In 1905, Boston socialites Harriet Hemenway and Minna B. Hall turned afternoon tea into activism—urging women to stop wearing feathers and instead protect the birds they admired. Their efforts led to the founding of the National Audubon Society, a community built on the belief that birds—and the places they need—deserve protection. Some know Audubon through its stunning magazines, others through its tireless work in conservation science. But all who join are united by a shared love of wonder, wildlife, and the joy of watching something feathered take flight.
